Commision for a new 47 rank pipe organ

Location:  Cathedral of Ss. Simon and Jude - Phoenix, AZ

Date:  Spring/Summer2016

Bishop Thomas J. Olmstead of the Diocese of Phoenix has commissioned the Peragallo Organ Company to build a new pipe organ for the Cathedral of Ss. Simon and Jude in Phoenix, Arizona.  This commission represents the first pipe organ at the Cathedral and Peragallo’s first installation in the state of Arizona.  Opus 743 will be of a four manual and pedal design, with 51 ranks of pipework featuring a low profile French terraced key desk and a hand crafted casework with a visible cymbelstern.

Under the leadership of the Cathedral Rector, the Very Reverend Father John Lankeit, and Director of Sacred Music, Matthew J. Meloche, sacred music has brought about a tangible sense of the sacred to the liturgies at the Cathedral.  The organ’s tonal design has been carefully crafted to properly support the Mass and is dynamic enough to provide the greater Phoenix area with a wonderful concert instrument.
