St. Andrew the Apostle Church

CLIFTON, VIRGINIA

Type:  NEW PIPE ORGAN

The new pipe organ at St. Andrew the Apostle pipe organ was installed in 2020 by the Peragallo Pipe Organ Company of Paterson, New Jersey in the high time of the COVID epidemic in our country.  The renewed and refounded organ is a wonderful symbol of renewal and resilence in a time of uncertainty.  The organ is a great example of how an instrument can be reborn in a new setting with the right amount of adjustment and vision.  The core of instrument hailed from the Bloomfield Presbyterian Church, in Bloomfield, New Jersey which had only recently installed a new pipe organ but was forced to close because of structural damage on the 400 year old building.   The organ was purchased from its original owner and underwent a full rebuilding and updating of wind, switching and electrical componentry.  Three new caseworks of solid mahogany were crafted to suite the unique architectures of St. Andrew.

The organ was dedicated to The Holy Archangels in 2021 with new handmade scroll works fronting each casework and a new center piece in the main case.  This magnificent instrument is of French Romantic design with three manuals, 51 ranks and 2,891 pipes.

St. Andrew features a world class concert series and is made up of several concerts annually from early Fall through late Spring.  Concerts are held on Sunday afternoons beginning at 4:00PM, and are generally followed by a meet-the-artist reception.
